Film Camp was transformed into Hogwarts, and offered interactive Family fun.
On Saturday, February 22nd, 2025, a magical and nostalgic experience added up to great fun and precious memories. A celebration of J.K Rowling’s iconic seven-book series Harry Potter (and the blockbuster films that followed) were on full display at Windsor PotterFest, a family-friendly and affordable event for all ages, especially for preteens and teens. Considerably more than interesting and stimulating visual displays, PotterFest offered live performances, Interactive activities, themed arts and crafts, hat photos, a live auction and projected wall-sized photos. Themed ‘Harry Potter’ snacks were available. Special book readings by Revolution Theatre began at 7 pm until 8:30 pm.
Tickets were $20 per person, $5 for 5 years and under. A large, attended parking lot on the 600 block of Pelissier was reserved for Potterfest, which is adjacent to the building for easy access and provides plenty of parking spaces for guests.
The fun began at 5 pm and ended at 9 pm. Film Camp for Kids and Youth is located at 664 Victoria Avenue, Windsor, the former location for the Downtown Mission and previously Temple Baptist Church. This is the fourth and final home for the 13-year old film camp program.
“The teenagers and pre-teens were thrilled, and there were plenty of offerings for the young kids and adults of all ages.” says Amanda Gellman, who founded the film camp. “Adults familiar with the property, both the Downtown Mission and the old United Church, had their curiosity satisfied when they walked into the building and witnessed the restoration. There is still plenty of work to be done but we have spent a sizable amount of time, effort and money to transform the property for events such as this.”
Proceeds from PotterFest were earmarked for the sustainment of the Film Camp for Kids & Youth and Revolution Youth Theatre.
